建仁寺 Kennin-ji Temple Garden

I recently had the great honour of doing a Commission for a close friend in Jersey who wanted me to draw a photograph he took of the Kennin-ji Temple Garden in Kyoto Japan. The drawing was a surprise Wedding Anniversary present for his wife, Ali Artology, who herself is an incredibly talented local artist. Considering the stakes and target audience, I definitely was under pressure to complete a work to both of their liking.

At the same time I was grateful as this was an opportunity to try my hand at drawing a traditional zen garden and Japanese plant life which I seized with with both hands… and with pen and paper.

The recipients, and myself are very pleased with the results, and I hope you are too.

Check out my new Shop to purchase this work as a print today.
